「体配 style」
鎬造り庵棟、重はやや厚くゴリっとした体配、反りは中間反りで小鋒。茎は大磨り上げで鑢目は切、茎尻は一文字。
「地鉄 jigane」
地鉄は板目肌が流れ柾となり、地沸付く。
「刃紋 hamon」
錵出来直刃にのたれが混じり小足が入り、二重刃、打除が混じり刃中に砂流、金筋が働く。釯子は乱れ込み掃き掛け尖り気味に返る。
「特徴 detailed」
宇多派は大和国宇陀郡から越中に移住した一派で、鎌倉時代末の文保頃の古入道国光を祖とする刀工群であり、南北朝時代時代を経て室町時代まで続きます。鎌倉時代末期から南北朝時代にかけての作品を 古宇多、室町期の作品を宇多と言います。
本作、室町時代中期頃の太刀を後の時代に磨り上げた物ですが、磨り上げられても未だ2尺5寸あり、元々は長大な太刀だったと想像します。また大磨り上げのため、茎が長くバランス良く居合にも最適です。
｢拵 Koshirae｣
ハバキ(habaki) ：素銅地銀着二重風ハバキ。
鍔(tsuba) ：鉄地木瓜形雲龍の図。
縁頭(futikasira)：鉄地竹林に虎。
目貫(menuki) ：龍の図。
柄(tsuka) ：鮫は親粒が付き巻鮫、柄糸は正絹黒の諸捻り巻き。柄長は約1尺。
鞘(saya) ：暗朱石目、コジリは鉄地勝虫の図。
｢刀剣の状態 condition of blade｣
研：古研ぎのため、やや曇っていますが、地刃は良く見えます。
傷：何か所か細い柾割れが有りますが、醜い物では無く、あまり目立ちません。
