Message from Ron Re; Summer Party

Hi Guys.

The Summer Party will take place on Saturday,July 21st at Adrian' house at 2821 West 3rd Ave at McDonald Street in Kitsilano.Adrian said that we can arrive any time after 2:00 pm,however the party doesn't usually get really under way until between 5:00pm and 6:00 pm when the food arrives.
Adrian said that we can use his gas BBQ if people bring meat or fish to cook. The Dojo is providing $200 for party trays of sushi from Sushi King.Tony is bringing steaks and pineapple and Koji said he will bring veggies with a dip and a fruit plate.I will bring potato salad, green salad, chili, and bread
.If anyone else wishes to bring some food please feel free to do so;but let me know what you are bringing so that we do not have too much of the same type of food.Maybe some members can volunteer to bring some paper plates, plastic forks, pop, chips, dip, etc.Does anyone have any Samurai DVD's that we can watch after dinner on Adrian's big screen television?
I am looking forward to seeing you all at the party.

Ron.

Message from Sensei Re: San Fransisco Seminar

I think you guys know what's happened on Andrej sensei. I talked with him over the Skype yesterday, right after I got his message.

Luckly, I could get him on hospital bed with his iPad. He could talk all right, but his lower body seems quite mushed up .........

Any way I asked him not to camcel the seminar as Cuong said in last mail, but I can not push him too much. Accident happen, it's not his fault.

Hope Andrej sensei's early recovery.

Message from Ron Re: Iaido Summer Part

Hi Guys. Our Summer Iaido Party will take place on Saturday,July 21st.The address is 2821 West 3rd Ave[3rd Ave. and McDonald Street] in Kitsilano. The party will start between 5:30pm and 6:00pm.

Sensei has returned from his trip to Europe and told us that we can spend $200.00 of our club funds for food so there will be no need to collect money from people attending the party. However, feel free to bring additional food if you so wish.

Thanks to Adrian for allowing us to have our party at his house once again.

See you all at the party.

Message from Ron Re: Marpole Dojo

Classes begin again this Wednesday,July 4th at our usual time of 5:45pm.There are 8 sessions for a cost of $59.00 tax included. The cost for a drop-in is $6.00 plus tax.See you on Wednesday.

Message from Ron Re: Powel Street Festival 2012

Our Dojo has been asked again this year to put on a demonstration of Iaido at the annual Japanese Festival known as the Powell Street Festival. The Festival will be held in Openheimer Park on Saturday,August 4th and Sunday,August 5th.Our Demonstration will take place on Saturday in the early afternoon-exact time to be included in an E-mail closer to the date of the Festival.

The Powell Street Festival is a lot of fun.You can see many types of Japanese Martial Arts demonstrated, watch dancers in traditional clothing, listen to music including Taiko Drummers, purchase Japanese goods, and try different kinds of Japanese food prepared and sold in the various food stalls on the streets surrounding the Park.

We have already started practicing for our Demonstration; so if anyone is interested in participating, they should endeavor to attend every Tuesday evening and Saturday morning class at UBC where we practice as a group doing trial performances.
